MET(T)A PROTOCOL

Mindfulness & EMDR Treatment Template for Agencies

323-248-7475 X5

MET(T)A is a new and innovative way to envision and implement Addictions treatment that is grounded in the well researched 30 year old theory and practice of EMDR therapy. This approach leans heavily upon the incredible work of those who have explored the use of EMDR therapy with PTSD, addictions and a whole host of issues, and upon the obvious and deep need for trauma resolution to be a focus of sustainable long term recovery.

I am excited to be presenting at the now fully virtual EMDRIA 2020 Conference on October 3rd, Saturday, 9am-10:30am PDT on The Role of Spirituality in Trauma Wounding and The Healing of EMDR Therapy. Trauma results in spiritual wounding as it can fracture the survivor’s spiritual connection, core beliefs, values, and sense of meaning and purpose. This loss in spirituality can manifest in disorders such as complex PTSD, PTSD, and addiction. The Standard 8 Phase Protocol and the AIP Model of EMDR therapy are best practices for assessing and treating wounds that are spiritual in nature within these diagnoses. I am excited to present on this topic and I look forward to you joining me at this virtual, interactive experience in October.

The Role of Spirituality in Trauma Wounding
and The Healing of EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy clients with Complex PTSD, PTSD and/or addictions often report that spiritual crises play an integral role in their suffering, and use spiritual terms when describing healing. The AIP model posits that maladaptively processed traumas and adverse life events have a profound impact on a client’s ability to make meaning, which is perhaps the core issue addressed by spirituality. Participants will discover the role of spirituality and spiritual wounds in the etiology and treatment of Complex PTSD, PTSD and addictions utilizing the 8 Phase Protocol. Case examples will highlight implications for case conceptualization, treatment planning, and specific spiritual interventions.
